This paper is on erned with global asymptoti stabilization of ontinuous-time ontrol systems by means of quantized feedba k. For linear systems, a hybrid ontrol strategy for dealing with this problem was re ently proposed by Roger Bro kett and the author. The solution is based on making dis rete on-line adjustments to the sensitivity of the quantizer. In the present paper we extend this method to a lass of nonlinear systems. 1 Introdu tion We study the problem of stabilizing a ontrol system with quantized state feedba k. This problem onsists in designing a stabilizing ontrol law whi h, instead of using the measurements of the system's state x dire tly, is only allowed to depend on the quantized measurements q (x). Here q is a pie ewise onstant fun tion with a nite set of values, alled a quantizer (see Figure 1).
